Assignment 0: Getting Started

by Mike Gleicher on January 20, 2013

The main purpose of this assignment is to try out some of the assignment infrastructure provided by Moodle. I hate to waste people’s time on administrative matters like this, but I think that if we spend a little time making sure the course mechanisms work smoothly, we will not need to worry about it later.

A secondary part of this assignment is to get people to say a little bit about themselves so we can start to get to know each other. This will be useful in the future since you will be working together.

The assignment has three parts. The first two are due before class on Friday, January 25th. The third part should be done shortly after (for example, by Monday the 28th). Each part is just a check/no check.

Part A: Submit something to the Assignment 0.A activity in Moodle. It doesn’t have to be much. Type a sentence or two into the assignment so I get something to “grade.”

Part B: Start a discussion topic in the Assignment 0.B forum on Moodle. In your posting say a little bit about yourself. Please say something about your graphics and animation background, your interests in animation, any animated things that you are particularly fond of, …

Part C: Post replies to at least two of the topics from part B. The system should not mark you as “completed” until you have both done the posting in part B as well as well as these two additional replies.
